Eliminating Poverty Through Education

In many developed countries, free and accessible education is taken for granted by its citizens. In many developing nations children are excluded from the right to education.

Do you think that education is necessary for individual and societal growth? Why?

What is education like in your community? What is education like in communities throughout the world?

As a part of the United Nations Millenium Goal strategy to end world poverty by 2015, target 3 asks the world to create universal access to primary education by 2015.

In spite of all the commitments made by Governments in the past, free, compulsory and quality education for all is still not universal. millions of childrenremain deprived of educational opportunities, many of them on account of poverty.

What are the factors to enable and disable all human beings from accessing education? What impact would educating all human beings have on poverty reduction? What is education like in your community? Do all children go to school?

The United Nations Millenium Goal 4 asks the world to provide primary education for all children in the world by 2015.

Why can't all children in the world go to school? Does poverty have something to do with it?
