What is a "Living Wage" and Why Does it Matter?
A Living Wage is the amount of income an individual or family needs to meet their basic needs and to have a safe, decent standard of living in their community.
A Living Wage For All...
Many organizations are concerned with creating a Living Wage for working citizens and have created goals for the people of their community.
In the 1990's, Living Wage campaigns have been launched by many organizations in the United States to help deal with increasing poverty faced by workers and their families. Today, Living Wage initiatives have been successful in 134 communities across the United States.
