The Impact of War

War impacts so many people... mothers, fathers and children.

What do you know about the effects of war? What is the relationship of war to poverty and homelessness? Are they connected? What happens when children lose their family members? What happens when children are asked to fight in wars begun by adults?

Over 300,000 children under 18 are fighting in both government armies and armed opposition groups in over 30 countries around the world. Some children are kidnapped or forced to serve and others join because they are hungry, do not have shelter or are hoping to help improve the lives of their families.
