"Dear Judges at the many Faces of poverty and homelessness,
Hi! My name is Carly Mattison. I go to Earl Grey Elementary in Calgary. I am in Grade 3 and am 8 years old. I love drawing. I do it too much even. I chose pastels and paint because I knew that making tiny things with paintbrushes was not easy. I named this picture “The World of Peace.” The man harvesting wheat shows enough food. The waterfall shows clean water. The cloud shows clean air. The school shows good education. The girl going to school shows girl education. The mom with the new baby shows proper baby birth and the birthday party shows still being alive at age 5. While doing this project I learned that the MDGs are special and that they are saving lots of people. I want to send this message, dear world, the world is unpeaceful right now. Wars are happening almost everywhere but we can stop it. Wars are just killing the loved and the unloved. If we don’t stop it, the world will jut be smoke, dirt and ash. If I could I would save all the people in the world. When I grow up I am going to invent some kind of car that doesn’t pollute, and a boat, so that the world will have clean air and water."
