A drawing of a city landscape

Buildings of Hope

"I have chosen this piece because the world deserves to have harmony. My class has done work with giant puppets and homelessness. It was really fun because we used information off the computer to do a play. It was very sad to learn that people in South Africa have no food and no clean water. We had a guest speaker called Erin Wilkins who has told us about the giant puppets then we have put together a play about four brothers that live in South Africa.

I used marker because it has bright colors so it is easier to see and read the words on my buildings. As you see I put a lot of orange which is one of my favorite colors. I also used a little bit of pencil crayon for the sky and 1 building only because I have run out of colors.

I’ve chosen the title to be Buildings of Hope because I love the idea that the MDG s can help change the world they may say that in 2010 there will be no poverty but it is coming close to 2010 and we still have millions of homeless people. So it may be a promise but it may take till 2020 to rid all the poverty in the world.
But I hope that they will get rid of poverty in 2010 and I hope everyone will have a roof to live under and food to eat.

I have heard about this contest before but I did not enter the contest. It was fun when we started to do the pictures and I think that the MDG s is not helping because there are still lots of homelessness and poverty. It has been really fun learning about homelessness and poverty and I hope I can win the contest but I still don’t like the idea that they’re people who still live in poverty when we could have stopped poverty and homelessness a long time ago."
