A drawing of buildings in a downtown area

City of Happiness

"Our class has been studying poverty in Canada and the world.  It has been really fun.  We got to learn about what is happening around the world with Erin Wilkins.  We put on a play with her help using giant puppets.  The story was about 4 brothers who live in South Africa and who live in poverty.  After doing this play, we decided that we would help other people understand that there are lots of people living in poverty and we should do something to help them.  We are drawing posters so that we can educate people.

My poster is called City Of Happiness. It’s got about 5 buildings on it and they all have words on them.  I wrote words on my picture to send out a message that we should help homeless people have houses and food.  It’s got a sun in the top left hand corner with words around it. It’s got a road with words on it. I used marker because I think they’re easy to work with.

Before we did this I didn’t know anything about poverty and homelessness. Doing this changed the way I think about homeless people. And I try to do is much as I can to help homeless people by donating to the food bank.
I think everyone should help homeless people. I hope that this poster gets that message across."
