The Analytical Look at Poverty

"Yohanabad Schools’ Association is a schools’ net work of 42 autonomous schools in Punjab, Pakistan. It missions on “bridging the difference for human cohesion and harmony”. It is a part of 6 Friends Organization, 7255 South Kiowa Road, Larkspur, CO-80118, USA http://www.6-friends.org and iEARN – Pakistan (International Education and Resource Network – Pakistan, 22 Ali Bhai Centre, 223 A Shahra-e-Qaideen, P.E.C.H.S, Block – 2, Karachi – 75400, Pakistan) http://www.iEARNpk.org

The Mission and slogan of our Association is “Bridging the Gaps in Differences”. The Association’s thoughts words; activities and gestures orbit around this Mission. This proceeding empowers the common lots with reflective opinions in all their personal and neighborhood issues. On the other and the social elites; traditional and even the religious authorities and norms have a supporting role to the Power Controlling Figures. Thus our Association is always a big challenge to these Power Controlling Figures and their supporters who have social judgment authorities within the surroundings and neighborhoods such as “Bradary” (The Council of Relatives); Punchhait (The Community Jury). It is noteworthy that their judgments and decrees have a huge influence and prominences in civil; legal authorities and bureaucracies. Apart from that these individuals and groups have many ties upon the monetary matters and earnings of the individuals. So this is their monarchy which does strongly support various controlling issues. One of them is “MALE SUPERMACY” whereas we believe and advocate female equality and gender balance.

So due to the above said reasons the common people with our surroundings do have to accept; honor and be in binding of these people even disliking them.

It is also a fact that our association; schools; teachers and student leaders do have their role to empower the common lots to get liberation and freedom in choices for their own selves personally and collectively.

The “GLOBAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY” is one of iEARN – Pakistan’s activities with its members and against these activities our Association is working on MDGs. We have started from Extreme Poverty in 2006. In which The Extreme Poverty Group of our Association had traced 12 connections of poverty as said below:

  1. Hunger
  2. Malnutrition
  3. Poor health; Social Injustices
  4. Poor Infrastructures
  5. Drug Addictions
  6. Pessimism + Rebellious and criminal mentality
  7. Lack of Advocacy and support
  8. Unemployment + Lack of skills & Earning opportunities + Low Income
  9. Oppressors grips upon the common Lots;
  10. Their Influences; Prominences and Peer on civil and state institutions
  11. Sale + Bartering and exchange marriages of girls and women for being in debts and enmity compensations
  12. Prostitutions + Drug and Women Trafficking.

As our group has been working on this 1st MDG of Extreme Poverty and had much acceptance and trust of the people so people open their heart and speak about their personal and community issues with us."
