"Can You Spot Them?"

"In this fast paced world, we hardly ever have time to stop and look around. Everything is done in a hurry. Look ahead we are told, but are we ever told to look around? What if one day we did? I seek to answer this question in my film. It’s really very simple, take a video of a journey you take every day, and look at it. Any journey will do; one that you take to (or back from) work everyday, or between your home and school. It may just be that the things around you shock you the first time, maybe the second, but then you grow used to the fact that you are comfortable, you have a home. How does it matter who does and who does not? You shut the world out. It really is ironic; you look away but on introspection realise that you can’t, you can’t be like those around you; homeless and hungry – and that’s why you want to rush home. Its noon, your stomach is growling, the sun is blazing, the last thing you want to do is look outside. One day you decide to look. What do you see? You see more than you can handle. You think people can’t live in the heat. Well guess what – you’re right; they don’t live, they die. Though a lot more cannot be seen, it amazes me how much we’d see; if only we care to look."
